บรรยายนำชม

Mongkhon Nimit temple or Klang temple is the only royal temple in Phuket. Originally, it was an old temple that was assumed to be established around the reign of King Rama III. During the reign of King Rama V, local people used to call it Klang temple because it locates in the heart of the city at the time when the province was still Phuket County.

These days, Mongkhon Nimit temple locates on Dibuk Road close to Rommanee alley. Despite being an old temple, it has always been restored, especially when the King Rama V visited Mongkhon Nimit temple and saw that the church was very dilapidated, the King then mandated Phraya Sisarat to repair the church.

In Mongkhon Nimit temple, there is a black-lacquered Buddha image that was originally placed together with a Burmese Buddha image. Later, there was a crack on the front side of the black-lacquered Buddha, so a technician was called to repair by polishing the Buddha image. It appeared that the inside of the black Buddha image is a gold. When polishing the whole body, it is found that the whole Buddha image is a gold. It is expected to be in the same era as the Golden Buddha at Traimit temple in

Bangkok. Besides the golden Buddha, there are also old buildings that have been registered as a historical site i.e., Iam Anusorn cubicle of Phiphat provost, Phraraj Wisutthi Wongsajarn's cubicle and Mae Pong pavilion which is influenced by colonial-neo-classical architecture.
