เต่าร้าง พรรณไม้ประเภทปาล์ม ขึ้นตามป่าดิบแล้ง/ชื้น ป่าเสื่อมโทรม ริมธาร ตามที่ลุ่ม ยอดอ่อนใช้ปรุงสุกรับประทานได้ หรือจะรับประสานสด ส่วนแกนในของลำต้นนำมาแกงได้ ผลสุกรับประทานได้ ใบนำมาใช้มุงหลังคา หรือเครื่องจักสาน หรือจะปลูกเป็นไม้ประดับก็เหมาะ หลายส่วนของต้นเต่าร้างมีสรรพคุณทางยา เป็นไม้ที่มีประโยชน์หลากหลาย Fishtail Palm is a type of palm tree typically found in multiple terrains including dry/humid forests, degraded forest, riverbanks and lowlands. The form of the palm is majestic and would be popular as an ornamental plant. The fishtail palm is an extremely useful plant. The young shoots of fishtail palm can be eaten raw or cooked while the pith/medulla (center of the plant stem) can be added into delicious soup. The ripe fruit of the palm is edible whilst the leaves are highly valued material for roofing and wickerwork. It is said that multiple parts of the plants could be used as folk remedies.
