ไม้เนื้อแข็งยืนต้นขนาดกลาง จัดอยู่ตระกูลเดียวกับมะเกลือ เป็นไม้เนื้อแข็งสีดำ ใบทรงสวย มีลักษณะเด่นเป็นทรงพุ่มสามเหลี่ยมหนา นิยมนำมาปลูกเป็นไม้ประดับ เพื่อความสวยงาม ทั้งยังมีความเชื่อว่าเป็นไม้มลคลที่จะนำพาความเจริญรุ่งเรืองให้กับผู้ปลูก ขณะที่พรานป่าหรือนักเดินป่าจะใช้ลำต้นในการจุดไฟในป่า แม้มีความชื้นสูง ก็สามารถจุดไฟติดได้ เนื่องจากเนื้อไม้มีน้ำมันประกอบ Kayu Arang is a medium-sized black hardwood. It is classified in the same family as ebony. It has beautiful shapes of leaves with a distinctive feature of thick triangular canopy. Therefore, it is commonly grown as an auspicious ornamental plant and also believed to bring prosperity for growers. In addition, campers use the trunks as fuel for a torch even with the high humidity due to the high oil content found in this wood.
